Indeed, we’re talking horoscope astrology & 12 signs of the zodiac – Aquarius, Pisces, Ares, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn.

Spanning back in time, nearly as old as the stars that make the constellations, the zodiac has been around for eons. The symbols of the animals and 12 star signs seems to have arrived on Greek manuscripts around the Middle Ages.

In the 8th century, astrology became a distinct discipline in Islam and a person could get their readings done throughout the empire, especially at bazaars. These readings were Genethialogy which examined all aspects of a person’s life in relation to the planetary positions at their birth. Enter in the horoscope!

The process for reading someone’s horoscope was quite intriguing:

• First the astrologer would use an astrolabe to find the position of the sun, align the rule with the person’s time of birth and then align the rete to establish the altitude of the sun on that date.
• Next the astrologer would use a table denoting the mean position of the planets and stars within the sky at any given time. This table was an Ephemeris.
• Finally, the astrologer would add the information from the astrolabe with the information from the Ephemeris and calculate them together on a dustboard. Once calculated, the astrologer was then able to interpret the horoscope.

Yes you can still get a fully in depth reading of your horoscope in these modern days! It’s most frequently found under the quest of astrological birth chart and there are professional astrologers who can do your birth chart (or DYI and learn how to read it!) You’ll need to know your date of birth, time and location you were born, something to do the calculations and tadah! You have a birth chart!

🤔 Indeed I like theatre, being admired (who doesn’t?), bright colors and fun with friends. Taking holidays is quite pleasant, as are expensive things, though I don’t indulge in either often. Heck yeah I dislike being ignored and not treated like a queen and I may tend to skirt around difficult realities…
